## What is a Ground?

A ground is a land measurement unit equal to 2,400 square feet or 222.97 square meters. It is unique to Tamil Nadu and primarily used in Chennai, Coimbatore, and other major Tamil Nadu cities for urban residential and commercial property transactions. The ground is not used in rural areas, where the cent and acre are the standard units. The ground originated as a local measurement convention in the Madras Presidency and has persisted in urban Tamil Nadu real estate markets.
