Filing at the wrong SRO will be refused. The same rule applies to gift deeds, mortgages, partition deeds, and any other instrument that requires registration under the Indian Registration Act.
Apply online via the TNREGINET portal at tnreginet.gov.in. Select Encumbrance Certificate (Form 15 for the standard certificate, Form 16 for nil), choose Oothangarai as the SRO, enter the registration village and survey number, pay the fee, and download the issued EC.
