Field Measurement Book (FMB)

A parcel-level survey record that can show recorded geometry, measurements, subdivision, and adjoining survey references where those details appear.

What is an FMB?

A Field Measurement Book (FMB) sketch is parcel-level survey evidence tied to a survey number and, where applicable, a subdivision. Depending on the returned record, it can show recorded geometry, measurements, and adjoining survey references. It is different from an urban TSLR revenue extract and from a whole-village map.

Why FMB matters in land deals

Use the FMB to compare the parcel identifier, recorded shape, measurements, subdivision, and adjoining references with the deed and revenue extract. A difference is a reason to investigate the identifiers, update history, and field conditions; it is not by itself proof of encroachment, invalid title, or ownership.

How to read an FMB sketch

Start with the survey and subdivision printed on the source record. Note only the measurements, orientation, adjoining survey references, scale, symbols, or features that the particular sketch actually displays. Preserve the retrieval inputs and source pages, then ask a qualified surveyor to relate the record to present markers, measurements, occupation, access, and adjoining parcels on the ground.
